What's the soul of a neighborhood? The places we care about? The ideas that inspire and motivate us? How we work together? Locals once channeled their civic identity as Seattle Spirit. Today our local soul seems broader and more complicated. Take a look at this week's offerings and share your own insights.
- In the blogossiphere, Angie's closes its doors. A Weekly reporter wrote in October — "if Angie's were to go, Columbia City wouldn't just lose a slice of its soul, it'd lose the whole damn thing." You agree?
- We have two Buddhist-inspired activities, a neighborly meditation group and a path to sustainability.
- On our discussion board, there's talk of an indoor sports facility and new elementary school principals.
- The Humane Society stops in at today's farmers market.
- The Columbia City Theater continues its run of grand opening events.
- Youth express themselves at the library.
- Urban farming enthusiasts check out chickens.
- Also in the blogossiphere, SouthendSeattle shares the back-story behind our Spirit of Washington and Citizens work together on a brand new mural.
- Mikala describes what it's like to bring back the old neighborhood.
There's all that and more. Check it out.
