call for performing artists
SEEDArts and the Rainier Valley Cultural Center are seeking Performing Artists for Valley Vibes, a new music series focusing on jazz in 2011.
Valley Vibes is an event geared towards bringing together artists and audiences who might not otherwise cross paths. The event will feature a formal concert experience followed by a community conversation involving the performing artists and a featured speaker on a topic related thematically to the performance or performing group. The event artist(s) will perform in the auditorium and also participate in the conversation event after the performance.
The series will begin in June 2011. Performances will be held every month on the second Friday of the month at the Rainier Valley Cultural Center, 3515 S Alaska St in Columbia City.
Each of the six Valley Vibes concerts will include a short opening performance by a local jazz group followed by a headline performer. Opening groups will perform for 30 minutes and headline groups for 60 minutes on the stage of RVCC's 250 seat auditorium. The event will run from 7pm until 10pm.
The Valley Vibes Steering Committee is seeking professional jazz groups who are innovative, passionate about their music and committed to fostering new audiences and venues. Opening groups will be paid a maximum of $200 and headline groups will be paid a maximum of $500.

Your application can only be considered if we have received it by May 14, 2011. Your application must include the following:
- A short biography (max 100 words)
- Sample performance of recent recordings on CD or online.
- One or two photographs (JPG)
