jam making party
The fruit is ripe, we've got a big kitchen, and we're making some jam! Come to Columbia City Church of Hope (3818 S Angeline) at 6pm on Wednesday, Aug 24 to can some delicious summer preserves.
Bring your own fruit from the market, your yard, wherever you can get it (or come to the church at 3pm to go pick blackberries in the neighborhood).
Everyone is welcome. We'll have jars, sugar, lemons and pectin — but please bring pint or half-pint mason jars with lids if you have them.

A note that you can sometimes get boxes of "seconds" fruit from vendors at the farmer's market, particularly if you ask the week in advance. This fruit is typcially somewhat riper, and less expensive, and if they're not too bruised they're still just fine for jam!
