2012 Washington State Powerlifting Championships – Feb 25 & 26
The 2012 Washington State Powerlifting Championships will be held February 25 and 26 at the Royal Esquire Club, 5046 Rainier Ave South in Seattle. Lifting will begin at 9 AM each day.
The meet will include several of the best male and female lifters in the United States and the world. Among the notable contestants are Catherine Kasabuski a national champion in the 123 pound class, and the ageless wonder Winifred Pristell who at 73 continues to compete and set records.
Top male lifters include former national runner up Grant Higa, a top junior competitor Ben Seath, national Masters Champion Greg Nucci, and national title contender Tony Walters.
Roughly 100 competitors will participate. Most will do three lifts: the squat, bench press and deadlift. Roughly a dozen lifters will compete only in the bench press. It is anticipated that several lifters will set national records during the meet.
New members will be inducted into the Washington State Powerlifting Hall of Fame during a ceremony during the afternoon. Also awards will be given for Washington Powerlifting Athlete of the Year, Coach of the Year, and Most Inspirational Lifter. Several Special Olympians enter the championships each year. These athletes range in age from teens to young masters competitors.
