Exciting news, Seattle neighbors! Seattle reLeaf's 2012 Trees for Neighborhoods program is underway. Want to beautify your home and neighborhood? Build a healthy community? Here's your chance. Trees for Neighborhoods provides up to four trees per household to plant in residential yards (renters and owners alike). In addition to free trees, participants in the program receive free watering bags, training on proper planting and care of trees, and ongoing tree care support. Yard tree applications will be due October 21application information is here.

Why Trees? Because urban trees reduce storm water, provide clean air, beautify our neighborhoods and build healthy communities.

By participating in the program, Seattle neighbors receive:

  • Free trees
  • Watering bags
  • Training on proper tree planting and care
  • Coupon for free GroCo compost
  • Ongoing care reminders and workshop opportunities

Seattle residents can apply for up to 4 trees per household. Trees can be planted anywhere in residential yards, but must be planted at the address on the application. No permit is required for yard trees.

Applications for trees planted in yards are due October 21. However, many species do sell out quickly, so submit applications as soon as possible. Program participants must plant the trees themselves. Never fear! Staff tree experts provide a tree planting and care workshop at the tree pick up days held on Oct 27 and Nov 10.
