BeatWalk

Still only $5 and kids are free.

We've got a great line-up this Friday with our very special guest, Indian sitar player Padit Debi Prasad Chatterjee who will play at the Columbia City Gallery. We'll have Cuban dancing with Los Supersones at Awash, Brazilian grooves with Urban Oasis at Columbia City Fitness, jazz with Marc Smason and Joanne Klein at the Bookworm, and toe-tappin' folk music with the Wiretappers at Retroactive Kids and Columbia City Cuts.

Hungry for more? Consider having dinner at Kallaloo and listen to Trio Caribe, or Island Soul who'll have Shan Rock.

or, consider having a free dinner at Tutta Bella and volunteer to help us collect cover charges at the venues. To volunteer, contact Joanne at su.ogidniesum|klawtaeb#su.ogidniesum|klawtaeb.

Columbia City Farmers Market

Summer is really heating up and we're seeing more and more awesome veggies and fruits on the market tables. Berries are still late this year, but stawberries are plentiful now, and we're starting to see more raspberries. Also look for apricots this week, as well as sweet fresh cabbage, Romanesco broccoli, crisp cucumbers, and some lovely squash blossoms and baby summer squashes (the blossoms are excellent stuffed with goat cheese, or sliced and sauted in an omelet). Dozens of other summer veggies too (from greens to beans).

Columbia City in the blogossiphere

Amber at the Rainier Valley Post says she doesn't want direct links from the Wikli's blogossiphere over her concern that gossip just isn't her brand. We still encourage you to check out her blog.
