Columbia City Farmers Market
This Wednesday, look for loads of berries (raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, boysen-, goose-, and tayberries, plus currants), cherries, peaches, melons, nectarines, apricots, plums, summer apples… On the veggie front, eggplants are coming in (purple, ivory, striped), sweet and hot peppers, heirloom tomatoes, pole beans. Plus about 50 other summer vegetables — the bounty from local farms is stunning indeed. If you feel overwhelmed with choices, pick two colors and go for it. Like ripe red tomatoes and fresh green basil; or steamed yellow wax beans and pale green summer squash — that alone is a meal fit for a king. Though a hunk of good market bread and some farmstead cheese would go well with that, too! — Janet Hurt |

Amber at the Rainier Valley Post says she doesn't want direct links from the Wikli's blogossiphere over her concern that gossip just isn't her brand. We still encourage you to check out her blog.
