Columbia City Farmers Market

This Wednesday is the last market day of the season! Stock up on long-storing crops (potatoes, winter squashes) and great locally-produced meats and seafood (frozen cuts of beef, lamb, goat and salmon), and enjoy our beloved neighborhood market one last time before it's closed for the winter.

This Wednesday the market also hosts the annual Pumpkin decorating (no knives or cutting — just lots of paint, glitter, feathers, and other safe and fabulous decorations). Kids of all ages can take home their very own market pumpkin, all dressed up for Halloween.

A very big thank you to all our shoppers for supporting local, sustainable agriculture in our region. Have a safe and cozy winter, and don't forget to check out the year-round farmers markets in West Seattle (Sundays) and U-District (Saturdays). The 2009 Columbia City Farmers Market opens in late April, same location.

Wednesday, October 22, 7pm
Rainier Valley Cultural Center, 3515 S Alaska St

We will have food donation barrels for the Rainier Valley Food Bank at the film showing. Please bring non-perishable food items for the barrels.

Bring your friends and neighbors to see Good Food, about sustainable food and farming in the Pacific Northwest. A small part of Good Food was filmed at the Columbia City Farmers Market, and also Marra Farm and the food bank at South Park Neighborhood Center. This film was first shown in June to packed audiences at the Seattle International Film Festival. Since then it has been shown at the Seattle City Council, in university courses, and at local theaters, with many more screenings scheduled.

Columbia City in the news

For meaty neighborhood issues, the blogossiphere sizzles. Our beef with the traditional media… there ain't any.

  • The newly renamed South Seattle Beacon has begun to post online, and includes an alert about Bull's fitness challenge.

… that's all in news.

Columbia City in the blogossiphere

Amber at the Rainier Valley Post says she doesn't want direct links from the Wikli's blogossiphere over her concern that gossip just isn't her brand. We still encourage you to check out her blog.
