Show Us Your Inner Ghosts and Goblins

Friday, October 31st — 3-6pm

The Columbia City Business Association will be having trick-or-treating again this year. Just look for the orange and black balloons to go in and get your treats (no tricks, really) along and near Rainier Avenue between S. Angelina and S. Dawson. Be sure to poke around the side streets for any ghouls that might be lurking …

Geraldine's Counter will be hosting their annual costume contest, and will award prizes for Cutest Costume, Most Creative Handmade Costume, and Best Group of Costumes. The winners get free dinner for them and their immediate families. Yum.

Retroactive Kids will have local photographer Bellen Drake available to take pictures from 4-6pm. Ooooh, spooky!

And last, but not least, the Rainier Community Center will be hosting a free Harvest Festival from 5-7. Join us in playing games, meeting new friends, and celebrate the season! The Center is located just NE of the post office.

Volunteer at the Rainier Valley Food Bank

Estimated time: 3 hours/week — or more!
Location: 4205 Rainier Ave S

Rainier Valley Food Bank provides food to approximately 5000 people every month, and three part-time employees and a team of incredible volunteers do all that work. As the economy declines, need for our services increase, as does our need for more fantastic volunteers. If you have the time, muscle and a smile to contribute, we'd love to talk to you about our volunteer positions.

The average shift is three hours and we have both morning and afternoon shift. We would love to have regular volunteers and encourage you to volunteer once a week, or once a month, or just occasionally, as your schedule allows.

Columbia City in the news

This week our traditional news media seem to have their hands full elsewhere. Good thing we can post some of our own!

nada in news.

Columbia City in the blogossiphere

Amber at the Rainier Valley Post says she doesn't want direct links from the Wikli's blogossiphere over her concern that gossip just isn't her brand. We still encourage you to check out her blog.
