your Wikli-fix: pride

What's the common thread that draws together this week's diverse offerings? Let's say it's the warm sense of pride in what we've nurtured. Whether it's a brand new playground, a fledgling congregation, a sensational show, a quality service, a super kid, or some creative handiwork — we're pleased with the result, and we invite you to share in it too.

Live locally.

Good luck getting to everything offered this weekend! Lots more listed below.

You can post a calendar event — here's how.

Expand this view Post your own Columbia City event

A Chinook Book, direct to your door

The Chinook Book is back! It's Seattle's guide to simple, approachable, affordable ideas for local living. As a coupon book, it's incredibly easy to use. I penciled it out — every year we save just under $100 without even trying.

Here's a sampling.

This is a great fundraiser for Graham Hill School, southeast Seattle's most integrated elementary. We're selling the book for $20, and the school gets $10 of that. Last year these sales helped us fund tutors, the Powerful Schools program, and busing for after-school programs.

May I sell you one? I'll bring it right to you. Let me know — moc.liamtoh|nalpttocs#moc.liamtoh|nalpttocs, 329-5912. Thanks.

The Bel Canto Choir is back

Don't miss a wonderful opportunity this Sunday, Oct 17th at 2pm to experience the musical legacy of Franklin High School as the Bel Canto Choir performs at Daniels Recital Hall downtown at 5th and Marion. The Van Asselt School Choir will also perform.

The original Bel Canto Singers from Franklin High toured Europe 40 years ago with their esteemed director, Dr. Richard Koehler. The group has reformed and added new singers, many also from the Rainier Valley area. And, Dr. Koehler is back to direct this 8-part harmony, 60-member group.
